ABOUT THE ROLE
Hauora Tairāwhiti Mental Health and Addiction Services, Te Ara Maioha, have three Consultant Psychiatrist vacancies in the area of General Adult, Mental Health Services for Older People and Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Days and hours are to be negotiated.
Te Ara Maioha provide adult inpatient and primary and secondary community mental health and addictions services, infant, child and adolescent mental health and addiction services and mental health services for older people. New funding has been specifically allocated to Tairāwhiti for development of new service models and facilities that will better provide for the needs of the local community. There is a focus in all service development and delivery in addressing inequalities for Maori.
The successful applicant will have diverse clinical work, rewarding and unique collaborations and a positive experience of work life balance. This role will suit a psychiatrist who has energy to tackle inequities and a desire to engage in service development and the motivation to make a difference within this community.
Generalist psychiatrist skills are required as participation in an afterhours on call roster is required. The after hour’s roster is well supported by skilled and experienced front line clinical staff who work with a cultural team. The frequency of call is usually one week night and one weekend per month.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent
- Registered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Broad clinical experience
- Specialist knowledge and broad clinical experience of Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry
- The ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to quality and safety in clinical practice
- Have a current driver’s licence valid in New Zealand
A relocation package, including accommodation and a vehicle will be provided to the successful applicant
