About the firm:
This firm might not be in one of the main centres, but it has all the attributes of a mid size city law firm, with a friendly, family-focused culture. This is definitely not a small firm and has the systems, technology and processes you would expect in a mid-size firm. This firm prides itself on the development of it's people and has seen the careers of many of its employees flourish in the firm. Whilst the firm has been around for over a century, this is a young and dynamic firm where the average age of the Partners is in their mid forties. This is not a place where people come to slow down, it is a busy firm where people come to grow their careers in a diverse, welcoming firm.
About the role:
Changes in the structure of the firm have created the need for a Team Leader in the Litigation team. The litigation practice in this firm covers a broad range of matters including relationship property, employment, trusts, property, farming and commercial disputes. Large or complex cases are briefed out to Barristers. With support from the Managing Partner you will be leading a team of 6 with room to grow the team. You will have responsibility for managing the team and its financial performance.
About you:
You need to have at least 5 years' experience but more senior candidates would be welcomed. Experience in court in defended hearings is essential, and high court experience would be beneficial. You might only have experience in one area of litigation but you must be willing to learn and adapt to different areas. Excellent communication skills are essential with an ability to relate to a wide variety of clients. People management experience would be beneficial although mentoring and training in this area will be provided. The firm is not currently looking for another equity partner but if this is what you aspire to, it is certainly possible. If you are into horses, motor cross, mountain biking, track cycling or just the rural lifestyle, this town has it all. Plus it is less than an hour to Raglan for those that love the ocean. Commute from Hamilton or Cambridge in less than half an hour or set yourself up in this lovely rural town.
