Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) is the largest employer in South Auckland employing more than 8000 staff spread across different 32 sites. We have an opportunity for a Board Secretary to join the team.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
This position is responsible the provision of professional secretarial support and administration to our Board and its sub-committees. The role will work in partnership with the EA to the CEO to ensure timely, effective support of this governance forum. The sub-committee forums supported by this role include the Hospital Advisory Committee, Community & Public Health Advisory Committee, Audit Risk & Finance Committee, Disability Support Advisory Group and, support the Mana Whenua I Tamaki Makaurau & CMDHB Board to Board meetings. The role may also carry out additional governance related support to the Board and general office administrative tasks in the CEO’s office.

As a high level employee, you must exercise a standard of skill, competence and care measured by what can reasonably be expected from a Board Secretary. A good working relationship with the Board Chair will be essential to ensure the efficient operation of the Board and you should be readily available at all times to assist with the Chair’s requirements. You will be professional and friendly, whilst demonstrating respect, sensitivity and cultural awareness in your interpersonal relationships. You will have a strong commitment and genuine interest in quality of service as well as the ability to communicate and network effectively with all levels of staff.
Your experience will include:
  • Previous secretarial and administrative experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Previous experience undertaking Board secretariat duties
  • Proficiency in a second language which is spoken in our community
  • Previous experience in the wider Health Sector is preferred
  • Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in one or more of the following areas – business management, population health, governance development is preferred
  • Have worked with Boards and/or other governance entities. This may include NGOs, community based providers (Maaori, Pacific, Asian) and/or networks with complex governance relationships
  • Experience in the wider health sector is preferred
